How to make your own turquoise bracelet
2010-07-15 10:09:04
Turquoise jewelry has a timeless beauty. It is rare and valuable in finer grades and has been prized as a gemstone and ornamental stone for thousands of years owing to its unique hue. Turquoise is a gemstone that has been used in many different types of jewelry. Here will be a guide on how to make turquoise bracelet. With this guide you can make your own turquoise bracelet which you can treasure for life.
1. Decide on a desired length for your bracelet. Measure around the wrist with a measuring tape and add two to three inches to calculate the bracelet's length. Measure that length of wire, add two inches and snip the wire. The simplest way to snip this type of wire is with fingernail clippers.
2. Lay your turquoise in a desired pattern. Make the bead line up about 1/2 inch shorter than the actual bracelet needs to be, as eye pins will add length to the piece when it's constructed.
3. Begin by adding split rings to your charms. Pick up the first bead and thread a silver eye pin through the hole. Use the pliers to trim the eye pin so that about 1/2-inch sticks out on each side of the bead. Using your needle nosed pliers, squeeze the crimping bead until it flattens. This holds the clasp in place. Finish off one end of your beading wire with a crimp bead, making sure to add a jump ring onto your beading wire before closing up the crimp bead. Then thread on turquoise bead chips until they measure 1 inch.
4. Thread the end of the head pin through the loop on a French hook ear wire. Using your needle nosed pliers, bend the wire around until it closes, connecting the head pin to the ear wire. Cut off any excess wire using fingernail clippers or small wire cutters. Tighten up that loop with the pliers, and the turquoise bracelet is ready to wear.
