How to make a Y-shaped necklace
2010-11-12 08:09:05
Y necklaces are fantastic accessories with long dresses, sweaters. They can also be worn from day to night. Y necklace is really a good choice as a one piece of costume jewelry for people’s daily life. Here I will introduce to you how to make a Y-shaped necklace.
First, you need to prepare a few things before you can start. They are beading wire made of nylon, beads that you like, 4 crimp beads, beads of your choice, a top drilled bead (or charm or pendent), and a clasp of your choice. As for tools you will need scissors and a pair of crimp pliers. Making Your necklace, you will want to determine how big you want your necklace, plus how long you want the Y's dangle to be. So you should begin with choosing the length of the necklace and the dangle of the Y. Usually 18" length and 3" dangle are ok. Cut the length of your two wires to be 1/2 the length of your finished necklace, plus the length of your dangle, plus 6" for finishing. Each wire will be the same length. Line up the ends of the wires and hold them together. String up a crimp bead through the wires. You will now have a beaded dangle with two wires at the top. Bead one of these wires with a pattern that is pleasing to you. Run back the wire through crimp bead and then pull it tight. Do the very same thing with the other wire and then trim all the wires. If you have a charm or pendant that has a front and a back you will want to make sure that you put the clasp on in a way that it still works comfortably.
Have fun designing your Y shaped necklaces. You can take these Y shaped necklaces you just made to send friends as gifts, or to sell. You are only limited by your imagination!
