Different meanings of turquoise in different cultures

Native Americans believed turquoise would bring rest to the dead and was used to make carvings, usually of animals, which were then placed into graves and tombs. The reason of native Americans' belief was the color of the earth is green and blue is the color of the heavenly sky, the amalgamation of both the colors would attract good spirits. Native American archers would also attach turquoise stones to their bows as they believed it would aid them in shooting targets accurately.
