Caring for luxury watches
2010-06-12 17:08:00
Time is a very important factor in everybody's life. The watch has become a significant item in our daily activities. Either way, it is very important to take care of our watch if we want to wear it for at least a couple of years, here are some steps that you should follow.
Give your watch a quick check on a regular basis, making sure that the strap or bracelet is securely attached to the watch face. And don’t drop your watch on a hard surface, which can crack the faceplate or break the luxury watch.
The winding is very important to take off your watch (manual wind) before you wind it. You should also pay extra attention when winding it because the spring is very fragile and it could break if handled improperly. If you feel a resistance then you should stop, this means that the spring is at maximum tension.
When you are not wearing your watch, then you should store it in a place away from heat and dust. Don't rest your watch on the crown because it will only cause damage.
For regular cleaning of the bracelet on a water-resistant watch, use a toothbrush and warm soapy water. For diving watches, after swimming or diving in saltwater, make sure you rinse your watch with clean water. Over time, saltwater can build-up on the watch and damage the finish.
The watch is a serious timepiece and if you have invested money into buying the item that you love then you should take really good care of it. A good watch can last up to 10 years or more but if you take special care of it maybe you can pass it on to your children.
