The maintenance of cubic zirconia jewelry
2010-06-09 16:50:00
Cubic zirconia, often used as a diamond alternative because of their low cost, and are virtually indistinguishable from a genuine diamond when set in jewelry such as earrings, with a sparkle and flash of color similar to high-quality diamonds. Maintaining cubic zirconia jewelry is simpler than you might think. By following simple tips, cubic zirconia will maintain their brilliance for the life of the jewelry.
1. The cleaning of cubic zirconia: The most convenient way to clean your CZ jewelry is to use a small brushing device with soft bristles (preferably a toothbrush), along with warm to hot water mixed with a mild liquid dishwashing detergent (such as the brand, Joy), and brush as well as possible to remove any scum build-up. Then, rinse well in warm to hot water, pat dry with a clean cloth, and take a look. If more cleaning is needed, soak the jewelry piece in hot water, with about 1/3 detergent to 2/3 hot water. (The mix is not critical.) Then, just brush again. When you're done cleaning your jewelry, be sure to dry it well so to keep its brilliant shine.
2. Keep CZ jewelry clean: To keep your cubic zirconia jewelry clean and sparkly, remove the jewelry before applying lotions or other beauty products. It is also best to remove the jewelry while exercising, because perspiration can transfer oils from your skin and make a CZ look dull. If your cubic zirconia jewelry is made of sterling silver, remove it before handling harsh chemicals or swimming to avoid damaging or discoloring the silver.
3. Protect cubic zirconia jewelry: Cubic zirconia is relatively hard, but always protect them from scratches and hits. Store your jewelry in an airtight, sealable plastic bag. If this is not possible, store your jewelry in a lined jewelry box, away from the outside air.
With the three tips of maintenance of cubic zirconia jewelry, you will find out the maintaining of the cubic zirconia is not a different thing as you might think. With the correct cleaning, and making sure the cleanness of your jewelry and the protection, you will keep your cubic zirconia rings, bracelets and pendants looking their best.
