Jewelry needs to be cleaned regularly to keep its stunning appearance, as oils from our bodies and dirt build-up can dull it. It can be a pleasure to see them glow again by using the right methods to keep them clean and safe for a lifetime. Steam cleaning may be the most effective cleaning method to remove the dirt and grime.
Before you start to work with steam clean jewelry, you should check all jewelry before steam cleaning to ensure the settings are not loose.
Mix 2 inches of water and a half-teaspoon of trisodium phosphate in a sauce pan. Cut a string or wire so it is 3 inches wider on each side of the sauce pan. Tie each end to the paper clips and a knot at the other end. Slip rings, bracelets and necklaces through the loose end of the string, loop necklaces so they do not hang too low. Do not allow the jewelry to dip into the water.
Place the container on a stove burner and heat to boiling. Allow the steam to cover and work on the jewelry for five minutes. Then turn the burner off and wait for the pan to cool down before removing paperclips from the pan. After remove the jewelry from the container, wipe with a soft clean cloth to let it dry.
With this method, you can have your jewelry steam clean and make them keep their luster for a long time.
